Note from the Founder

The cornerstone of the International Green Shield is the belief that we are at our best when we are in the service of others.

Built upon our cornerstone are three pillars: service, science and community. We seek to harness the power of service, combine it with the forces of science, and release into the world an awesome demonstration of the human community.

Today’s world is a truly interconnected one. No nation stands alone; no neighborhood survives alone. What happens to the people of one community can greatly influence the lives of people of another – and the effects can be instantaneous.

Since any community’s response to crisis is dictated by the strength of its infrastructure and economy, the International Green Shield is designed to implement new sciences for infrastructure protection before disasters occur while simultaneously reducing the economic stress on the relief mechanisms that cure us after disasters strike.

There is no shortage of technology in today’s world. We can protect cities from the oceans and shield towns from the winds. What has been lacking is the implementation of these technologies. What has been lacking is the sheer willpower to achieve what we know is possible. This is our mission.

Thank you for the privilege of working with you to protect those in need today while building a stronger, smarter and greater tomorrow.

With much gratitude,

Philip Gilpin, Jr.
